You have reached the Lake Beseck Winter Festival page in celebration of Middlefield's 150th! Check back frequently as things come together!  We are planning lot's of fun for the entire family including  CT DEEP C.A.R.E. Ice Fishing, Middlefield Fire Department Ice/Water Safety Demo, Ice Carving Demonstrators, Sledding Activities, Games, Kids Work Shop, Hay Rides, Photo Booth, Doogie Costume Contest & Photos, Food, Music, Warming Stations &  FREE Hot Chocolate, Full Moon Viewing Event and Lighting of the Lake at Close of Celebration.  The event will take place at Beseck Beach from 10 A.M. - 7 P.M.

 

 

Smokin' Skulls BBQ              11 A.M. - 7 P.M.

Offering a variety of hot foods, and drinks for purchase such as pulled pork, hamburgers, hot dogs, chili, soup, french fries, coffee, soda, water, kids drinks, etc.  

**Smokin' Skulls BBQ will be giving back to support Middlefield Sesquicentennial Celebrations! ***

 

 

DEEP C.A.R.E. Ice Fishing workshop Jan 14 6:30p - 8:30p & Jan 23 10a-12p

CARE (Connecticut Aquatic Resources Education) is a FREE program run by the CT DEEP (Department of Energy and Environmental Protection) whose goal is to introduce families to the exciting sport of fishing.  The fishing program is conducted by certified DEEP C.A.R.E. instructors. Topics will include fish identification, fishing tackle, ice safety, cold weather attire, fishing laws and regulations and more.

  • All required class materials and equipment will be provided.

  • The class is free of charge and open to all. Children under 10 years old must be accompanied by an adult.

  • Date/Time 2 part class -Thursday January 14th 6:30p - 8:30p Middlefield Community Center & January 23 for hands on from 10a - 12p at Beseck Lake

Manchester Community College Ice Carving Demo       11 A.M. - 2 P.M.

Students from the Manchester Culinary Arts Program will offer ice carving demonstrations from 11a - 2p.  

Get your photo taken with           friends & family behind their ice picture frame!

 

 

 

 

MIDDLEFIELD FIRE DEPARTMENT ICE SAFETY DEMO

1:00 P.M.

Middlefield Fire Department will offer an ice/water safety demo staring at 1:00 P.M.  

Doggie Costume Contest & Photos

Bring your dog to parade by judges at 2:30p for a doggie costume contest.  Be sure to get your picture taken with your pet behind the Middlefield 150th sculpted ice picture frame!

Fun, games, kids workshop in a tee pee tent, hay rides, doggie costume contest & photos, sledding, warming stations, full moon viewing and lighting of the lake and more!

A Spectacular Full Moon Closing Celebration &   Lighting of the Lake  5 P.M. - 7 P.M.

To end the days festivities, we will gather 'round a fire with friends to close the event with the Full Moon rising over the treeline.  Kids can view the moon close up through a telescope. (pending clear skies)  There will be a Lighting of the perimeter of the Lake with help from our shorefront residents who are being asked to illuminate their lake frontage with any type of lighting. (holiday lights, porch lights, tiki torches, etc)
